Served as a law clerk on the Wisconsin Supreme Court following graduation from the University of Wisconsin Law School. He went on to practice law with the international law firm Baker McKenzie for 32 years. He was elected to serve as full-time Chairman of the Firm’s Executive Committee during his last five years, and was responsible for developing and implementing its global business strategy.
Klotsche next served five years as a Senior Advisor to the IRS Commissioner in the George W. Bush Administration with a primary responsibility to manage the Agency's activities to combat abusive tax shelters designed and promoted by major accounting and law firms. Following that he founded PlainTaxTalk, a grass roots initiative designed to urge the IRS to scrap its archaic and obtuse communications and embrace plain language.
Klotsche more recently has written a number of fiction and non-fiction short stories and op-ed pieces, with an emphasis on political and financial issues. His writings appear in the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Christian Science Monitor, Politico and The Hill, among other publications.
